During the current expansion phase of the Digital Reading Room, a research and presentation platform for film holdings is available that replaces the Federal Archives‘ previous search options Filmothek and the research database Benutzungsmedien Film Online. The system is under development and will be further expanded over time.
The long-term goal of the Digital Reading Room is to present the entire process for using digital archive material online and without media disruption.
It will make it possible for users to engage in a comprehensive search for various types of archive records (files, films, images, audio, etc.). This goal will be realised in several stages that extend over a period of approx. 5 years.
